Started right around 2015. It’s possible Trump was uniquely repulsive and/or Clinton was unusually appealing.

is it explained by issue salience? an intuitive explanation to me is that women are meaningfully more pro-choice than men at each age bracket, and abortion has been growing in salience over the last decade.

Women are higher on agreeableness. Tend to choose majors like social work, education, etc in college which are explicitly far left in their curriculum. High social cost to leaning even slightly conservative in these areas, esp when young. Men study business, economics or stem.

Seems very obvious to me that this is due to political/politicized masculinism on the right and an utter hatred of masculinity on the left rn.

it may have to do with women as the more social animals. as mainstream culture adopted a much more liberal/progressive ethos in recent years, the socially intuitive woman, esp young woman, adapts to maintain her good standing
