I thought you were successful. If you're not making enough money to raise a child, that's not very good. Move to a cheaper state and see if the situation looks better.

Most people get some help unless they are uber rich. Kids can be added onto parents medical cards, Friends and relatives give hand me down clothes, government programs to help you with food, first birthday party usually loads them up with couple year of toys.
