Nose didn’t evolve with regular consumption of frozen foods

Yes, we shouldn’t expect noses to be reliable guides for things not in evolutionary environment, since dangerous things in modern environment wouldn’t have weeded out our ancestors. Eg. laundry detergent looks tasty because ancestors weren’t killed off by eating it

that makes sense but like, food that's good to eat smells one way when it's good and changes smell when it's gone bad
detergent *always smells the same* (and is never safe)
the shift seems to be what gives information?

yeah idk I've eaten a ton of food out of trash or dumpsters or old food sitting out or two year old butter and I've been fine using my nose

i think for me it's mainly some built-in intense disgust reflex, maybe?? combined with being apparently more sensitive than most people (frequent stomach aches, etc), and also p bad emetophobia
