i get catcalled *way* more when i'm dressed up and wearing something flattering, i don't understand why ppl say it has nothing to do with the way you look. clearly the hotter you are, the more catcalls you get.

Why would it not be purely a visual signal? As if you can tell someones sense of humor or personality from distance. Phys attraction is deff primary for mate pairing. Then personality stuff is secondary. Someome might be the coollest person on earth but ugliest and wont matter

I’m guessing it’s to reduce the incidence of people prioritizing solutions to catcalling that focus on women changing what they wear (or worse, victim-blaming) -- which is a freedom people shouldn’t have to give up to feel safe.
