I don't understand how people have work-life balance. If I'm working on something, I do it all day, every day, and I have trouble taking intentional hours off or spending some hours on a 2nd project. Either that or I do zero work for days or weeks at a time.

sex work was structured diff but I can clearly see my attitude of all in or all out manifesting around it.

"Work life balance" is a bad frame because there is nothing in human psychology that makes a task draining just because it is productive. Humans do have many needs for balance but it's more subtle than that. Each person is different.

In particular, if you find that a "work" task energizes you, keep doing it. And if a "life" task drains you and doesn't contribute importantly to future happiness, dump it.

Some people don’t produce their best work in this manner. Simple as that. Depending on the task/project/job, some people have to work in highly focused, episodic sprints while others may have to be extremely consistent. Work/life balance looks different in each scenario

When you have kids it forces you to partition your time on a daily basis. Can't tell the kids to brush their teeth for 3 hours straight on Saturday.
