A new disease starts spreading; one of the symptoms is sudden onset pedophilic urges in the infected. Most of these clear up, but around 20% are permanent. It's hard to trace, easy to get from strangers. In this world, your attitude towards pedophilies would move more towards:

At the individual level no change (pedophilia already appears to be a mostly random affliction). But it's pretty clear more resources would need to be devoted to controlling the situation.

On a side note, I would hope this affliction also has a decent (majority) chance of making someone not attracted permanently but still have an enjoyment of kids... there's way too many people in the current world who just flat out hate kids and sadly a lot of them are parents.
