it feels like... im a scuba diver, in scuba diver communities, dating scuba divers, and someone goes 'but are u afraid some ppl wont date u cause they dont like water' and im like... that really doesn't feel like the kinds of problems i have with relationships at this point

sure sometimes we fight over what brand of oxygen tank to use or communication difficulties that happen when you're underwater but it seems like you're not conceiving of the idea that there's a whole world out there where 'liking water' is just a basic, entry-level filter

so much of their existence is at the foundational trust and affinity level of something we have built skyscrapers atop. it's like trying to discuss if people evolved from apes while working in a complex genomics lab
