re: ppl saying make dummy data, I'd have to figure out how, while preserving the (many hundreds of) column names, and then somehow keeping the same type of data in each column, within the same range (some issues i have is confused data ranges)

Having a person who sits with you and fixes all the code and pats you on the head is traditionally called "pair programming". The experience you describe is in fact quite typical of the programmer life.

Ego can get in the way of learning. Frustration comes from disappointment which is the gap between expectation and reality. Your expectations are likely overinflated from ego.
