Can't think of a parent and children case, but I know of estrangement between relatives due to non religious factors eg inheritance disputes

Is politics not a part of culture? Plenty of people cut off family members for voting for Trump. I know of a few of these cases personally. Sad.

It's a mind virus that survives by increasing the evolutionary success of its host tribe. I think one of the main mechanisms is by increasing the maximum effective tribe size to infinite (bigger than nation states).
