I feel compulsively drawn to picking apart inconsistencies in neargroup worldviews. I think most trans discourse is glaringly inconsistent, and I really want to talk publicly about how it makes no sense, but I'm afraid this will be interpreted as me not supporting transitioning.

I support the end case and all the vital bits, like i think my final ideal of what is good aligns probably 90% with what a lot of trans activists value, but the entire philosophy they use to get there feels so poorly constructed to me and I have very little respect for it.

I'd argue that it's a band-aid that covers up past trauma, and months, years or decades later, the excitement of "being a ____" fades and the inevitable drop in serotonin results in bad things. Deal with the problem head on, PAST TRAUMA and MENTAL ILLNESS.

v easy to dismiss things as bandaids from the outside; imo we should have the humility to acknowledge that we *dont* know what's best for other people, and if they think transitioning is the best option for them, we'd better have a helluva good reason to believe otherwise

i can agree with this, for sure. To each his/her/xer own. But at the same time, there's people who have BIID and we don't pass laws to help them "transition" to a limbless person, we try to figure out past trauma and medicate BEFORE anything permanent. Pimozide exists.
