Got deep into a research hole today after discussing med changes with my doc and let me tell you the state of research on GRT/GAHT/hormones and impact on a wide range of factors for trans people is...
...poor
Conversation
would love to do more research to help with this except the radical trans people keep deliberately sabotaging my ability to do so so ???

Can you DM me what you have on this or point me to what you found? Super curious...
I've been reading research papers on how/whether E and T affect sexual preferences for like the last three days because I've been wondering about this

There's anecdotal reports of hormonal birth control affecting levels of same-sex interest for bi (genetic) women explicitly and _some_ supporting research but a ton of studies also show no impact on pref across all populations and it's hard to sort out noise

on phone now but it was looking like yes, changes trans women to prefer being more submissive, more nonconsent scenarios. More stuff across the board, too!

this is interesting--useful things to examine from self-reported changes are like:
- variation on type of method (andro suppressor? / gonadectomy? / estro delivery method?)
- length of time on hormones
- original preferences and change across time
basically no one has data

I asked how long on hormones, but not hormone method or base rates of fetishes.

baaah I mean understandable but unfortunately it's very hard to theorize a lot of useful info about what might be causing a trend without those things
there's SO many personal factors that can influence preference in play here; age/mental state/conceptions of gendered behavior

I did ask about age! but yeah the survey wasn't super exhaustive. I do think it might still be useful thoigh; for example ppl raise in submissiveness but don't drop as much in dominance, which feels inconsistent with an idea ppl are self deceiving about their sexual preferences
I wonder if that’s a comfort thing, like you’re more okay being submissive and vulnerable when your dysphoria is reduced.

OR
you believe women are sub and it's gender affirming to play a sub role but the pref isn't stable
OR
spiro reduces dom pref but you still perceive yourself as having a pref you don't anymore
OR
it's easier to find a male partner as sub and it's shifted your pref
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
