restating my stance towards trans issues: I strongly support ppls right to transition, gender dysphoria is a real thing, use preferred pronouns! Be kind! Also don't believe most ppl have ability to make their brain parse ppl as their preferred gender and it's cruel to demand this

literally that's it. I am down to, in almost all circumstances, treat trans ppl as they want to be treated. Bathroom use, inclusion in their preferred gender groups, insurance covering transitioning cost, absolutely yes. I just draw the line at ownership over other ppls minds

if i had a button i could press that would make my brain automatically parse you as the gender you wanted to be parsed as, I would press it. But I don't have that power and I am a lil freaked at the pressure (thousands of ppl calling me transphobe!) to pretend I do

IMO health insurance is too far. I dont see what the difference is between gender dysphoria and a girl who is unhappy with her nose, or wants larger breasts. Health insurance cant just be for any body modification

tbh i also think health insurance should cover plastic surgery, as long as we're doing health insurance. but the current type of health insurance we have is dumb af so nothing matters

this is such an odd thought/take to return to, over and over. i'm not sure i understand why you want to go out of your way to specify this. no serious person is demanding you parse peoples gender, are they?

I think it might be the way you’re talking about it. People don’t have a “preferred gender”, we have between zero and “it’s a spectrum”* genders. People don’t have “preferred pronouns”, we have pronouns. *I don’t claim to know how many there are. -more-
