my intuition here is if you're gonna name the race of the victim, you should also name the race of the attacker. Or do neither! It feels like it's asking for warped narratives in any direction to allow one but not the other.

in the context of hate crimes in particular, I think it's important to note the relevant groups that both the victim and the perpetrator belong to.

it's like what happened with Rittenhouse when they realized the guys he shot were white, they just stopped naming their race in headlines that being said I'm willing to bet black crime is being intentionally overrepresented anecdotally, while there is little data about this
