If you press the button, the US governing system must get rid of 100 laws every year, and can introduce up to 20 new laws a year, for the next 15 years. You:
US laws are already too big.
1,000+ pages, hard to track.
If you limit Congress to 20 bills a year, they’d all be trillion dollar spending bills full of pork.
Forcing politicians to pass many more smaller laws would get better results.
This would very quickly result in zero laws, and the first ones to go would be the ones that regulate corporate behaviour to limit just how much they can inhumanely exploit a resource. This is a short road to total oligarchy. Hard no to that button push.
This just seems like a way to encourage more bizarre “and” clauses in laws being passed, like bundling other unrelated things in with spending bills. It’s just one law even if it governs a lot of unrelated stuff.
