I’m not old enough to feel this way but isn’t this what aging does? People lose the competitive edge and are generally content. This isn’t criticism. You stop trying to keep up with the Joneses. You realize you won’t learn it all. You accept your lot in life. You exhale.

It's not at all true but your opening question at a party for Buddhists or anyone who believes in an enlightenment based belief system should just be asking versions of this along with all the sayings about how the novice is more enlightened than the master.
