Humans have a 'basic need' to find a mate willing to have kids with them. But 'society' cannot provide such mates for everybody (since that would violate the mates' freedom of mate choice.) So, that's one key way that 'society' cannot 'provide for our basic needs'.

Kinda misleading by category error. Most societies in history could not save themselves from extinction, much less provide for all members. But, increasingly wealthy societies have an increasing moral obligation to make sustainable provision for vulnerable members.

I don't think this even has to do with morality, but mutually beneficial cooperation is far more effective, productive and successful than cut-throat competition. Doesn't mean society "owes" me anything, just that we're all better off if we all take care of each other.

The reason humans have survived ice ages is not from going it alone…cooperation made civilization possible, our success has made the concept of separateness possible…it’s a luxury that won’t last the test of time. Civil society is only as strong as its weakest link. Basic stuff

The more a society is free to save in sound money and conduct free trade, the more people will voluntarily provide for the basic needs of its members without any force or obligation
