i feel kinda tribally aligned with EA, like facing the outside i splay my body in front of them like 'get back, these are my people' but i don't consider myself an EA; somethin about their vibes that dosent quite align with my vibes. i think they need more balls. 1/

Good thread. I think EA made a strategic decision to prioritize effective, patient, risk-averse, long-term movement-building over looking cool, edgy, brave, or sexy. Most youth movements favor the latter, so EA looks weirdly grown-up, vanilla, and stodgy by comparison.

I feel like this is close to my criticism but not quite? Like, rationalists don't 'look sexy' really, there's a lot of ways they're more... idk anxious/uptight/less attractive than EAs; their movement doesn't feel like it's 'about' looking cool, but it just 'is' more cool
