yeah i think it's great that EA doesn't come across this way. i think it'd be odd and indicative of a pretty big problem if the movement founded on mathematical analysis of charities had a "forbidden fruit" feeling to it.

That doesn't strike me as true--EA famously has a loud contingent who are more worried about AI than anything else, and the discourse ranges from mystical to vitriolic. It seems like that's a good "forbidden fruit" contender, but internal EA dialogue just turns it back into math.
