imo the truly degenerate or oppressive society isn't the one that has either exorbitant sex or sexual repression, but rather one that says "you don't know what will make you happy, *I* know what's truly good for you"

There are thousands of years of history to learn from. What you want today may not be the thing that produces the most long term satisfaction. I’m not saying eg sex work should be illegal. Just that most people in most times and places have discouraged it. Don’t weight that zero.
