i hate the trans culture war; can't people agree that 'being trans' is a real oppressed thing we need way more cultural compassion for, and also that trans ppl aren't in fact completely biologically identical to their desired gender and u cant control ppl's perception of gender

like neither extremist side in this debate is sane, both are making unreasonable demands of the others. you cant just shame trans people out of being trans by insisting on the most unflattering descriptions, and u cant just force people to feel safe around you if they don't

its like the trans issue breaks people's brains, turns both sides into the worst versions of themselves, makes them see the other side as the most evil threat that wants to destroy all good, and can't comprehend that brains might actually just *work differently* than their own

I fail to see what about this question is 'hard' you don't give those drugs to kids and you don't perform those operations on kids we already had that framework established

That's the only point I disagree with. Do not chemically castrate kids. Do not perform surgery on kids. Kids are not allowed to take any other body/life altering decisions, because, well, kids.

You don’t “have” to transition if society doesn’t have patterns for what a man or woman looks like and what they do. It’s all about need to “conform” to societys expectations. Then you can do that if you wish (same change as wanting piercing, tatoos, hair dye and breast implants)

No, let's start that discourse with an acknowledgement that we are sterilising children, most of whom would otherwise grow up to be gay. Then we can discuss what, if anything, justifies doing that.
