People will say they have no "internal experience of gender" because it's not something most people think about, it's just part of who they are. It's like fish having an internal experience of buoyancy. Or non-dancers having an internal experience of being bipedal.

They think about it if you ask them! If you ask people to reflect, and they look inside, and they go "hm, no I don't have an experience of gender," are you telling them they're incorrect? It feels weird to invalidate *that* but not the introspection of others.

Most people have no reference to compare it against, and so don't consider themselves to have an "experience of gender". How many smart people have an introspective experience of being smart? Does not having that experience make them not smart?
