It's an asymmetric market. Guys are looking for ways to stand out.
When my girlfriend and I met online, she had a queue of >700 likes (she paid for stats). It's hard for guys to stand out.

i wanna say it's really not hard for guys to stand out, the bar is *super* low, except apparently based on evidence it must be hard for them to stand out or else they'd be doing it

So what? You are a woman. If you are above a 7 you’re gonna have a 95% of likes from men. Over a 6 probably a 70%.
For men it’s quite different. If you’re an 8 you will have maybe a 20% likes and if you are under a 6 good luck having matches. I’m above an 8 so I know how it works
