are you asking whether the whole thing is fine or whether, once they are created, the enslavement is fine

I'm not sure if it's possible to be sentient and in the same time "built to X". I would expect such creatures to have much more potential and enslaving them, even if they like it, means banning them from exploring what else can they do.
