I'm sure your correlations are just fine. You can always do chi-square tests of independence on your twitter polls too (categorical count data)

For your 4 choice polls, you should be doing a 2-prop z test. This will give you a z score, which is then converted to a p-value, which can be interpreted as “if these two populations were actually the same, this is the probability I would’ve seen results as extreme as these.”
