maybe i'm really slow but is part of the reason people get so mad at stuff I say that I find innocent is that they're parsing my beliefs as being *social*? like they interpret the beliefs as existing for fully social reasons and don't see the actual raw belief in there?

To be clear, I do approve of pedo dolls! It's just, I approve because I concretely think it would reduce actual child sexual abuse (or at least not increase it). If you could show me my core assumption is wrong there, then I'd likely change my mind.

Do you know if there is any research on this topic? I have heard intuitive arguments that the dolls will both increase and decrease child sexual abuse rates, but I haven't seen the stats on what actually seems to happen.
