One trait that I find really sexy in a man is a real specific flavor of 'doesn't give a shit what others think' - not in an antisocial way, but like, clear principles and bravery/risk taking, and some level of power/independence that lets them have the independence to survive.

This is maybe louder to me cause I talk so openly about sex work, which is very taboo in more proper/successful cultures. It's interesting to watch men assess if they'll take a reputation hit or not by being involved with me. I don't mind the assessment, I just like bravery.

But even independently of that, there's some deep aesthetic or value system that rings true here, touches something I love; some fiery "I won't let you tell me what I can't be, and I am willing to suffer in pursuit of my self expression". This fills me with awe.

Seems like the nerds/geeks of the 90’s often made peace with their outlier status and owned it, regardless of the larger social context. But now ‘fandom’, f.ex, is everywhere and rather than toughen-up many have become newly sensitive to any expected lack of normalization.

Honestly, though? That just sounds a lot like the basics of true male maturation and life experience. After a sufficient amount of time and variety of life experience, it alters your perspective and you realize how little the thoughts / opinions of others actually matter.
