Obv it varies by show, but drag shows are usually a (albeit mild) form of sexual expression, like burlesque… and kids by definition cannot consent, so convincing a kid to go watch one is deeply murky territory that as a rule of thumb should be avoided.

“Mild sexual expression” is a vague thing, so examples matter here. Eg there’s a big difference between an 8 yr old seeing an intense kissing scene on a tv show as part of a wider story, and making an 8 yr old watch a show dedicated purely to sexual expression e.g drag/burlesque

Also, kids explore their sexuality with their friends/peers of a similar age group. Exploring sexual stuff with parents around is extremely uncomfortable for the vast majority of kids - I would’ve died inside watching something titillating with my parents watching on too

i have too many confusions packed into this - is it good for kids to explore sexuality with friends? why is that more accepted? what are ppl worried about re: kids exposed to sexuality, if it's done 'with parents' doesnt this desexualize it? if ur too young y does it matter?
i don't have strong intuitions around most of these im more just real confused about how people are even beginning to think about this

I wonder if your extreme conservative upbringing hindered your intuitions on this stuff? Like, can you grok the feeling of a kid feeling “ew” about a sex scene coming on tv with parents around, or is that not easy for you?
