Ok at this point I'm kinda afraid to say it but I don't really get why drag shows for kids are that bad

Obv it varies by show, but drag shows are usually a (albeit mild) form of sexual expression, like burlesque… and kids by definition cannot consent, so convincing a kid to go watch one is deeply murky territory that as a rule of thumb should be avoided.

“Mild sexual expression” is a vague thing, so examples matter here. Eg there’s a big difference between an 8 yr old seeing an intense kissing scene on a tv show as part of a wider story, and making an 8 yr old watch a show dedicated purely to sexual expression e.g drag/burlesque

Also, kids explore their sexuality with their friends/peers of a similar age group. Exploring sexual stuff with parents around is extremely uncomfortable for the vast majority of kids - I would’ve died inside watching something titillating with my parents watching on too

For most people, hula dancers and belly dancers are ok; strippers and drag queens are not; pole dancing by non strippers is edgy lol. Some mild sexual expression is okay while some is not! A friend is a pole dance instructor so I am unusually aware of these arbitrary judgments.
