I’m not especially mad about this, but can someone explain why drag + schoolchildren has become a thing? Seems to be a really specific subculture, what special advantage do they have in teaching kids how to read or whatever?

.@Ankeny_Hawks brought in drag queens to perform for students during school. The drag queens also spoke to students about gender identity and expression.

I have absolutely no idea why when school administrators think 'how can we introduce our students to gay men and women' they immediately land on "HOW ABOUT DRAG QUEENS DANCING AROUND IN SKIN TIGHT LEATHER" Something very broken going on in their minds

Well, the most entertaining display is in this case is not the most accurate one (as it doesn't represent most), nor does it help with the "acceptance" angle. I think it isn't unlikely that those hostile to lgbt would only become more hostile after a sexual show for kids.
