The school shooting in Texas is more surprising to me now that I live in Austin; the amount of people who concealed carry here is really high, and I'd assume small-town Texas would have an even higher %. I'm surprised nobody seemed to be carrying at the school!

Murder-suiciders tend not to worry about who might be carrying. Also, whomever opens fire on that dude is just as liable, if not moreso, to hit a kid rather than their target.

It's gotta influence at least some of them a little bit; lots of them do cold calculating planning to get the biggest amount of deaths, and choosing a more defenseless place makes sense for that. and idk man id really rather have a gun in a school shooting situation than not

When the pandemic came, I considered having a gun. Ultimately, I decided the most likely people to be on the wrong end of it were, in order: 1) Myself 2) A random person who was not involved in whatever incident 3) Someone stealing from me 4) Someone trying to kill me

You're fortunate to have that be your ranking! For me, and people more vulnerable than me, we don't have the privilege of "myself" being ranked #1 here.
