tbh this sounds absolutely bangin. I've often wished i could use twitter in a closer, cozier way and this seems like it might help with that

my concern is that it leads to friend group splintering and gossip circles, but maybe that's already happening from locked alt accounts and group chats and I'm just hopelessly naive 🤷

Yeah maybe? My experience of FB has drastically improved since people started doing small FB groups, because it's given people permission to be more vulnerable. And I don't know about the groups I'm not in, so I haven't felt too bad about it.
