i really like rail systems, like top-down maps of rail systems, but im not really into trains themselves. I *do* really like garbage trucks though. i think my wet dream would be a world where garbage trucks ran on rail systems. get a little nervous flutter thinking about it.

Based. Imagine letting private infrastructure work anywhere it can and then only putting public infrastructure where it is needed as a service which could not otherwise be filled practically. Wouldn't that like actually make sense or something?

I'm always surprised by the kinda naive thinking that the owners of private infrastructure in capital intensive fields wouldn't maximise their gains by oligopolisation / regional monopols.

Socialists are aware of tragedy of commons, prisoners' dilemma, principal-agent problem, etc? Government is the definition of principal-agent problem, of course, but people are also aware of it, so there are layers built to mitigate that.
