stands on the main contested spaces: changing rooms, domestic violence shelters, prisons, toilets; and to understand *who* she has in mind when talking about the many people who have this disgust response. Feminists who discuss them?

its really hard, because I don't trust people to be aware of their disgust reflex and I don't trust trans people to chill out about this. My somewhat unsatisfying answer right now is to settle things on an individual basis. I don't think it's bad in principle to have boundaries

In general, if a woman genuinely processes a trans woman as a man and as a threat in a way thats not informed by disgust, I think it's reasonable for her to request a cis woman space.
