Kinda seems like you came down pretty firmly on one side there, Aella.
Or at least I agree with nearly all of this, and I think I'm pretty firmly on one of the two sides of this issue.

This is right inasfar as it goes, but also pretty basic and doesn't say much that hasn't been said years ago by other rationalist bloggers like Scott Alexander, Zack Davis, Ozy Brennan, etc

I agree with much of it but as many have pointed out, the arguments in favor of respecting gender identity almost perfectly map to respecting someone's claimed racial identity. Yet people like Rachel Dolezal are despised. Why favor one but not the other?

Just call me the slur you're thinking, it'd be more honest than trying to make your transphobic framing "polite."

By slur, do you mean the other pronouns? Cause I'm not actually thinking any slurs.
If someone prefers me to address them how I view them, that seems fine to me. Most trans ppl I know have explicitly requested otherwise tho.

And just crickets from actual trans people. Being trans essentially isn't a thought experiment, ideology, or a debate. It's a marginalized identity, based in biological neurology, that is currently having to fend off these "both sides" takes
