Idk what you want to call it - adhd, executive dysfunction, but I have a lot of trouble keeping my environment clean. It's gotten better over the years, but is still super hard for me! It's surprising that there's not more discussion about the psychology behind this stuff 1/

My friend K has exactly this same this as you (re: physical space attention ADHD) and I've met no one else who does I've been astonished to see him set down a banana peel on a dresser 2 feet from a trash can. Brains work differently, man

he would also do batch cleaning with stimulants, he likes the clean, it's just very hard to accomplish and he never cleans on the go paying cleaners once a week has solved this

Not true. You just need to pay them some more and ask them to do more. Show them your closet and where you keep your stuff and ask them to organize in addition to cleaning. They’ll charge you for the extra hours but it sounds like your life will change.

For me that also comes with shame. Getting a cleaner to come clean your one bedroom 500sqft apartment feels like a big fail. Like there's barely any space to clean and you still can't keep it clean.
