1/ I literally didn’t dance until I was 18. Was terrified of it.
Now randos tell me they dig the way I get down. Sometimes they ask “Where’d you learn to dance like that?”
But I didn’t really “learn.” Inside every song r already the instructions for how to dance to it

2/ My ability to dance I’m a way that feels and looks good happened kinda spontaneously.
I realized that I just needed to give my brain a break and let my body react naturally to music
Boom: body starts doing amazing moves

4/ Finding natural dance:
0. No mirrors
1. Put on song you can’t help moving to
2. Close eyes
3. Give the body 1 song’s worth of freedom from thought; let body react thoughtlessly to the beat
If you feel dumb, or scared at the “loss of control,” 👍 that’s the adaptive valley

5/ “There’s no wrong way to do thi—“
Actually there is a wrong way.
At Ecstatic Dance events, ppl ape a *style* of freedom (typically: dancing all flowy or all chaotic)
But freedom is not a style or pattern; it’s the nothingness from which infinite variation emanates

7/ I heard Aella ran a dance workshop at vibe camp that sounds similar. Ppl had some kind of religious experience.
Unsurprising – dance starts feeling mystical the more free it becomes. You start surprising yourself. “Where did that dope move come from?” V mysterious
