Ppl seem upset that i said pedophiles were born with sexual attraction to kids. My phrase was a bit loose (mebbe it develops due to random exposure in early childhood) but wtf do you think is the alternative, ppl just wake up one day like oh yeah I'd love to be into kids now thx

While some amount of fetishization is likely inborn, much is also learned. Eg - trans craze among girls We have no direct control over ourselves, but we control our environment. We often become what we are exposed to.

My guess is that things that arouse you are *significantly* less malleable than things like social identities or at least some variants on gender identity

I agree, and I am rather mystified by how the consensus seems to have shifted from a born-this-way view of sexuality to it's-all-nurture. If you are what you are exposed to, what explains the existence of gay people (seeing as 90% of the pop is straight)?
