Plastic surgery is more common than you think (people don't tell you) and has better results than you think (the only surgery you notice is bad surgery; all the great surgery is invisible). It's also a great mental health boost, if I supported public funding I might for that

I've had some plastic surgery and it's generally been a super positive experience for me. My nosejob was amazing, for example - had a bit of a crooked nose, and straightening it out slightly increased my continual baseline happiness. And nobody can tell!

If everybody can get surgery to become beautiful, then won’t the same mental health issues arise once more?

I don't think self-perception of beauty exists 100% in contrast to others. It might to some degree, but I'd be shocked if very easily available widespread plastic surgery had no positive impact.

How do you recommend learning about the options?
Even basic things like Botox are hard to get clear info on and I don’t know if I trust a person who wants my money to tell me what will work.

Realself is a good start. Temporary procedures you might need to experiment with. Permanent procedures are really hard to evaluate, reviews are misleading; I'd budget a few hundred dollars to getting a lot of consults beforehand

To me, for men, strength training totally counts as aesthetic enhancement.
My natural state is probably 60 pounds of muscle less. Thank goodness for protein powder and barbell science baybeeee
