I do think higher IQ (or g factor or whatever) increases the chances of financial success. I also think IQ is genetically heritable. I was sorta surprised when I was thinking about how many smart friends I have came from rich parents, but maybe I shouldn't be!

fwiw I didn't get a good education by most ppls standards, (tho it was good by my standards cause it afforded me a lot of freedom) and I just self taught a ton afterwards. My guess is childhood education quality doesn't matter overmuch if you're smart.

Let's suppose you could collect a lot of data, how would you test the hypothesis that "childhood education quality doesn't matter overmuch if you're smart"?

Your education praub matters since it can help determine the future resources you obtain and time you get to express that intelligence. No matter how smart you are if you spend all day hammering nails and carrying wood nobody will notice. Education usually gives u opportunity.

Stability, opportunity, mentorship. Having a guide is probably going to make the process a lot more effective/allow less error on the path. I’m sure there is a threshold of capacity one needs to cross, but after that I wonder if it is proper application of that horsepower.
