fwiw I didn't get a good education by most ppls standards, (tho it was good by my standards cause it afforded me a lot of freedom) and I just self taught a ton afterwards. My guess is childhood education quality doesn't matter overmuch if you're smart.

I believe Malcolm Gladwell wrote a post on the only pre-determining factor is that the person doesn’t care what other people think of them. I don’t have time to search for it right now, but the examples shared were amazing

In my firm, there is a hugely strong correlation between overall ability and level of seniority. And I've generally thought it's clear high IQ correlates very strongly with wealth. But a lot of research shows the correlation is very weak. A little stronger w income but weak too

Understanding how knowledge is created undermines the utility of IQ. A high IQ suggests the person was *interested* in IQ related problems. Your IQ says nothing about *likeliness to know the truth*, or else society would be organised around finding the next highest IQ child.
