I do think higher IQ (or g factor or whatever) increases the chances of financial success. I also think IQ is genetically heritable.
I was sorta surprised when I was thinking about how many smart friends I have came from rich parents, but maybe I shouldn't be!

(fwiw I personally came from long lines of poor/lower-middle class ppl, averages are not absolute predictors)

Well, growing up in a rich family helps quite a bit to have a well rounded education, no?

fwiw I didn't get a good education by most ppls standards, (tho it was good by my standards cause it afforded me a lot of freedom) and I just self taught a ton afterwards. My guess is childhood education quality doesn't matter overmuch if you're smart.

I believe Malcolm Gladwell wrote a post on the only pre-determining factor is that the person doesn’t care what other people think of them. I don’t have time to search for it right now, but the examples shared were amazing

IQ is significantly influenced by psychological safety, which rich communities tend to hoard

In my firm, there is a hugely strong correlation between overall ability and level of seniority.
And I've generally thought it's clear high IQ correlates very strongly with wealth.
But a lot of research shows the correlation is very weak. A little stronger w income but weak too

Understanding how knowledge is created undermines the utility of IQ. A high IQ suggests the person was *interested* in IQ related problems.
Your IQ says nothing about *likeliness to know the truth*, or else society would be organised around finding the next highest IQ child.

Sounds like a bad case of logical induction error based on environmental observation bias and limited sample data... Maybe think a bit more about this?

1. Grades/SAT are a proxy for intelligence
2. Intelligence is rewarded economically
3. People tend to mate assortively by income/intelligence
4. Intelligence is primarily heritable
5. Result: people born into higher income families will tend to perform better in academics
