I thought of this cause last night I was falling asleep and suddenly had a visual image of something in stark 3d and I was like what the actual fuck was that, turns out I've been visualizing things in 2d this whole time

Take a second to visualize a small tree in a field. You approach; there's a bird sitting on the branch nearest you. You walk around the bird, not getting too close. In this visual, are you seeing it in 3d - did you experience depth of field, or was it more a series of 2d images?

Learning to draw made me realize I was much more aphantasic than I realized and let me get way better at visualizing Tony Robbins has some cool thoughts on this around sub modalities if you really want to mess with it

Wait what? I thought everyone visualizes in 3d all the time. I visualize even 2d images like photographs in 3d. It takes an effort to picture them "just" as flat 2d images.😮

Interesting, I don't think this is talked about much. I visualize in 3d all the time like to plan how to build diy stuff for example. And even with abstract concepts as long as I can remember I would create a 3d model or graph in my mind to try and understand it better.
