I'm a bit frustrated by how most reactions to this intentionally misgender her, which is super upsetting for a trans person to hear. It's possible to criticize admissions into women's sports, to point out trans and cis women aren't identical, without escalating the viritrol.

As much as I agree you shouldn't be abusive to people, including trans people, I think to many (perhaps most) people, this isn't misgendering. It's gendering correctly according to their understanding of what gendered terms mean.

Sure - that's one way of looking at it. But do most people actually agree that this is what gendered terms mean? Or do many people think gender is simply indicative of sex (for those not intersex)?
