Does polyamory often correlate with a particular pattern of Big 5 personality traits, vs, say, some strain of personal “sexuality”? Or does happenstance cultural evolution dominate?

I don't know! My guess is it's part culture - much easier to be poly if you've seen it practiced among ppl around you, part genetic - probably jealousy has some genetic component i'd guess - and yea openness probably a big factor here too.

I do actually have a survey of 1,500 US adults that includes measures of the Big 5 as well as sociosexuality (not poly per se, but interest in it usually correlates). If I find a minute, I will try to send the results.

Update: Sadly, my survey does not have a reliable measure of polyamory. Instead, it measures sociosexuality, which is more focused on interest in casual sexual behavior, not really poly. I do separately capture whether people are currently in or someday want to be in a poly
