I've been full blown, no-doubt polyamorous for ten years, Ask Me Anything while I make coffee

Right now, yeah! Historically I tend to be "meet one person, date them while they date other people" style poly

Does it affect how you think about the future? do you still make plans as a “we” when it’s more than two people?

It doesn't affect how I think about my future a lot? It's probably harder to make big plans if there's more than 2 ppl involved, but I rarely have two partners at the same time who are serious enough I want to do Life Plans with them.

polyamory seems like trading the annoyances of not getting to sleep with other people, for the annoyances of getting to sleep with other people
what am I missing?

I mean you're kinda right? In my view, the annoyances of not getting to sleep with other people are sort of a deeper, more important, principled downside than the annoyances of getting to sleep with other people.

what are the greatest benefits you’ve had for being poly and what are the biggest problems

Benefits are, it feels healthy and loving? Like, it feels really deeply loving to me to allow my partner to do what they want. I don't have to suppress any romantic/sexual interest I naturally experience for other people when I'm im a relationship.

More complicated! More moving parts, more long discussions about feelings, also feeling jealous isn't a fun emotion.
