Why so many ppl dedicating years to becoming enlightened like a Buddhist master but so few dedicating years to becoming beautiful like an autumn leaf?

Was thinking more about internal structural beauty that ends up being expressed outwardly. This is how I think of an autumn leaf but I think the analogy didn’t capture that very well

Hot take: Romanticism bred the renunciate path of embeautiment in the same way that Theravada bred the renunciante path of enlightenment.
The bohemians became beautiful but at the cost of becoming functional members of society.

(ie the sort of beauty that is as free as enlightenment)

like uh, beauty as in being nice to people or beauty as in surrounding yourself with a beautiful aesthetic? Cause one of those is free

Closer to the first. Have you ever met someone where you thought “this is a beautiful person” in reference more to their way of being than their immediate appearance? (even though the two tend to correlate)
Sometimes ppl like this are nicer than others, sometimes theyre meaner
