This one time, I was 22 and hanging out on the street with my homeless friends at like 2am in the U-District of seattle, when a frat bro walks by and invites me to a party. I'm kinda drunk and like sure, and I follow him into the dark. He leads me to a small, dingy apartment;

there's a single, uncovered bulb and a mattress on the floor with unmade covers. the dude says his friends will be here soon. im like, idk bro i'm not sure i believe you. he insists no, just wait. in a rare moment of self preservation, i decide not to trust him and i leave.

he offers to walk me home, i'm friendly and like sure okay. i tell him about my life, that im a sex worker, not realizing this could be interpreted as sexual interest in him. we get to the front doors of my apartment building and he insists he needs to pee, can he come in?

im like uhhh why can't you pee in the alley, and he's like cmon i just want to use your toilet. and im like no, use the alley, and he's like no, just let me in to use your toilet. (my refusal is out of character for me; i am typically extremely complaint and nonconfrontational)

eventually i say 'no, go pee out there' and i walk in the doors. he grabs the door and tries to force his way in as i'm trying to pull it shut. I'm like 'go away' and he's not stopping trying to get in. so i raise my leg and kick him in the chest, hard, and he stumbles out

i slam the door and run upstairs, exhilarated. i watch out the window as he hangs around for a while before wandering off. when i hang out with my homeless friends again later, my friend Train tells me he'd been worried about me and followed me partway to make sure i was safe

my homeless friends were great, whenever i was walking around the area late at night and feeling slightly unsafe i'd just ask one of them to accompany me and they would, they actively watched my back. sometimes i'd buy them all pizza.
