Last year my roommates and I had fun gambling with Gamestop; one day I woke up and said "you know it's weird, I just don't feel interested in gamestop anymore" and my roommate heard that and immediately sold (right before it crashed).
I'm sorta having this feeling with woke stuff

there's something like, it's just not *interesting* anymore. I think part of me believes that big institutions don't *really* take it seriously? Scott echoed this in his recent ACX blog post and I agree; it feels like I never actually run into woke people now, it's not trendy.

I hope you're right. But there's money to be made being woke, if you're a certain type of person. I don't think that goes away if the trendiness fades.

That's kind of my impression too - although large institutions seem to have adopted it more actual peers seem to talk about it / care about it less? Maybe that's because I hang out with a different crowd now? seems convinced hasn't peaked yet tho - curious about why?

I’ve had that same feeling in regards to woke stuff as well. However, that was back in 2017. Yet a lot of hysteria has happened since. I’m just not interested in it anymore, it uses up precious computing power that I’d rather allocate elsewhere. That feeling is not a good metric

very related to (and in support of!) Matt Levine talking about his 'boredom markets hypothesis':
"The boredom markets hypothesis says that people will buy stocks when buying stocks is more fun than other things they could be doing for fun"

I'm on record from July 2020 saying that wokeness isn't the leftwing brainworm to worry about anymore, it's anarchocommunism. I'm not sure that my diagnosis that ancoms will the next thing is right, but the decline of wokeness seems to have continued.

The trend of illiberalism, which is the worrying component of it, is still going strong though, manifesting in the desire to censor misinformation
