i am really not ready to embrace an indefinite world of pandemic restrictions. At some point it's gotta end, this can't just be what life is now. I'm vaxxed, boosted, and have had multiple direct exposures to covid, and I am now personally behaving like the before times.

This is not a decision up to what you are ready, but to what are the circunstances. We all would love it to end, but if thousands are dying daily due to covid, frankly I see no space to care about what "you are ready to embrace".

idk brah tons of ppl die daily of other stuff and we dont seem to care
Entirely this. People just look at death numbers and go that's bad with no context of how many people die each day. At some point we have to address what our risk appetite is for covid

One reason I support and longevity research is that it would cut down on a sizable majority of this "dying from other stuff" (and a sizable majority of dying from Covid, judging from the fatality rates by age).
Yes, and most of those things are not contagious and not decimating our hospital systems, which is why it's rational not to care about them so much, but really stupid to compare them to Covid.
