I wanna get better at not just spurting out my thoughts with fun as the primary objective, and instead figure out how to tweet controversial takes *without* getting ratio'd. Any tips for methods of presenting tough ideas that don't make people mad at you?

i think when you write you don't demonstrate any kind of understanding that you get why people might be mad at you about the idea. nobody likes feeling misunderstood

tbf part of me believes people shouldn't be mad at me, they're unreasonable to be mad, and that i shouldn't try to make them not be mad because their anger is unfounded

yeah, this is familiar to me, sometimes with a feeling like one is waiting for them to understand that by getting mad they have *lost*, and for this to break them out of their limitations bit of trouble in that for most people getting mad is not a punishment, it is a reward

I have always believed 1 and 2 too, but I’m different on 3 because I know from history that people will do unfounded shit for all of time, and I that I can either be inflexible about it or I can choose to win

then the question is whether you prefer to be *right* or *persuasive*, both are valid communication strategies, but with different end goals, or at least paths to that goal

Well exactly. People can tell that and it understandably doesn't endear them to you and makes them mad. Is your question 'how can I continue to hold others' beliefs in open contempt without this causing any objections'?

I might be an idiot, I don't see anybody else saying it: Isn't the real art here vindicating their anger? Like, doing the work of understanding why they're angry? That seems to me to be the real problem in tendentious conversations

Then you have to choose between getting ratio’d or letting go if this feeling. People ratio you because of what they feel you could have said, whether you are “required” to make the effort or not
