I wanna get better at not just spurting out my thoughts with fun as the primary objective, and instead figure out how to tweet controversial takes *without* getting ratio'd. Any tips for methods of presenting tough ideas that don't make people mad at you?

i think when you write you don't demonstrate any kind of understanding that you get why people might be mad at you about the idea. nobody likes feeling misunderstood
stands out as someone who's careful to raise and address the "obvious" objections to his tweets

tbf part of me believes people shouldn't be mad at me, they're unreasonable to be mad, and that i shouldn't try to make them not be mad because their anger is unfounded

90% of the work that i do toward this is in the form of dodging shibboleths. you can mostly get away with saying a whole lot if you specify it in some way other than the way peoples' enemies specify it. your habit seems to be more like slamming the shibboleth button as a dare

For every idea you can ask what makes people upset about it. Very useful for understanding oneself and others.

if people aren't getting mad at you, you aren't being honest, they aren't really listening or they are concealing their anger to maintain an image or to manipulate the relationship. anybody who expresses honest thoughts will induce anger in honest people who are paying attention.
